Jesus Christ is the Answer
The Bible says that while we earn death by our sin, God offers eternal life to any who would receive that life as a gift. Romans 6:23 – “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in (through) Christ Jesus our Lord.” He has purchased this gift through the death and resurrection of His only Son, the Lord Jesus Christ (John 3:16-18). Jesus Christ lived a perfect life and then voluntarily went to the cross to die in the place of any who would put their trust in Him. According to God’s law, there is no forgiveness without the shedding of blood (Hebrews 9:22). Jesus Christ paid that penalty with His own blood and then conquered death as God raised Him from the dead. He lives today and is going to come back any day to take all those who are His to be with Him forever. No one can ever earn God’s love and acceptance, to try is an act of sinful independence. The alternative is to ask Him for His grace. Grace is unmerited favor. It is blessing given when punishment is due. Ephesians 2:8-9 says, “It is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast.” However, it is not enough to know these things intellectually.
